Porsche 911 Turbo S 2026: Now Hybrid and the Most Powerful 911 in History

The Porsche 911 Turbo S makes a spectacular comeback at the very top of the 911 lineup for the 2026 model year, setting a new benchmark in the history of the brand’s flagship sports car. It now holds the title of the most powerful production 911 ever built, thanks to the integration of a cutting-edge hybrid powertrain that blends tradition with innovation.

At its heart, the new Turbo S delivers a combined output of 701 horsepower, edging past the legendary 2019 911 GT2 RS by one horsepower and producing 61 more than the previous Turbo S. Torque peaks at 590 lb-ft from just 2,300 rpm, ensuring instant and brutal response. These figures translate into blistering performance: the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 2.5 seconds, two-tenths faster than before, despite an additional 85 kg from the hybrid system. Top speed reaches 322 km/h on the track.

Numbers aside, the real proof comes from the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where the 2026 Turbo S clocked an astonishing 7:03.92 minutes14 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Porsche brand ambassador and test driver Jörg Bergmeister, who was directly involved in development and set the official lap time, stated: “You don’t feel the added weight at all. On the contrary, the car is more agile, has better grip, and is significantly faster across all the key sections of the circuit.”

The T-Hybrid system, first introduced on the 911 Carrera GTS, serves as the foundation, but the Turbo S enhances it with a second electronically assisted turbocharger and model-specific tuning. The 1.9 kWh battery remains unchanged, while the eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission integrates an electric motor and works seamlessly with Porsche’s PTM all-wheel-drive system.

Beyond raw power, Porsche has re-engineered the chassis to cope with the new performance ceiling. The rear tires are now 10 mm wider (325/30ZR21), while the front retains its 255/35ZR20 setup. The braking system introduces new racing-derived pads, and the rear discs grow to an unprecedented 410 mm in diameter – the largest ever fitted to a two-door Porsche.

Aerodynamics have also been carefully refined. The body has been reshaped for more effective cooling and airflow management, with active front diffusers and spoilers complementing a retractable and adjustable rear wing. Porsche’s electrohydraulic dynamic chassis control (ehPDCC) minimizes body roll in corners, while both the front and rear tracks have been widened for even greater stability.

The sensory experience hasn’t been overlooked either. The 3.6-liter flat-six now breathes through a redesigned sports exhaust system, delivering a deeper and more emotional soundtrack. Inside, the coupe comes standard as a two-seater, with a 2+2 configuration available at no extra cost, while the cabriolet is offered exclusively as a 2+2. The cabin blends carbon-fiber details with Turbonite accents, creating a sharp contrast with the sporty luxury environment. The 18-way adjustable Sport Plus seats, embossed with the “turbo S” script, complete the exclusive feel.

With the 2026 Turbo S, Porsche has once again proven its ability to merge performance, technology, and heritage into a package that doesn’t just evolve the 911, it redefines what the pinnacle of the 911 family truly means.
